Let's start with a quick introduction, shall we?
Photographer: Me! I'm Erin Holden. Sometimes my very helpful husband Beck will tag along, but for the most part it's just me. I'm a middle school English teacher by day and a photographer by weekend, summertime, and night.
Location: Mostly Northern New England, but I am willing to travel anywhere to take beautiful pictures. I have a whole list of "bucket list" photography ideas that will require some travel, so you better believe I offer some steep discounts for those.
How long have you been a photographer? I officially started HoldenHands Photography at the end of 2010. Growing up, I loved cameras. My grandfather dabbled in professional photography for decades, and my parents were nice enough to let me experiment with their SLR when I was old enough not to drop it. I purchased my first DSLR for my summer honeymoon in April 2010, and I couldn't put it down. I was taking pictures of everything. Some friends asked if I could take their Christmas card photos, and after seeing how pleased they were with them, I decided officially to begin my journey into being a photographer. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made!
What's with the name? My last name is Holden, and I love photographing the love between people, whether it be families, friends, people and their pets, or people in the great outdoors. Holding hands is one of those actions that conveys a lot of love, so it fit.
What kinds of photography do you do? Type-wise, I pretty much do it all. I have photographed weddings, receptions, family parties, newborns, toddlers, families, engagements (though I am still waiting and wanting to photograph someone actually proposing!), boudoir sessions, headshots, landscapes/scenery, and pregnancy announcements. I love it all. I am pro- same sex marriage, heterosexual marriage, elopement, big white wedding, and everything else in between. Love is love. Style-wise, I tend to go with laid back and natural. I don't tend to ask people to say cheese, especially young children, because it doesn't make for the natural smiles and joy we all want to see in our photos. I like to let people interact and catch the moments that make them who they are. You may not think that a soft brush of the cheek would look like much, but it can be turned into your favorite photo.
If I wanted to book a photo shoot with you, how would I do that? Super simple! You can either email me at holdenhandsphotography@gmail.com, or you can get in touch with me through my Facebook page at HoldenHands Photography. I am constantly updating and checking both, so I will be in touch soon! We can discuss what you are looking for, your budget, and your style.
I hope that you will stop by this blog, comment, question, and just enjoy the pictures and topics we discuss. Photography is about sharing, and I hope you will continue to pick up what I am throwing down!
